Community visits and resources

The community visits program, run continuously since 1992, involves a series of visits by judicial officers to First Nations communities within NSW. These visits give judicial officers who attend the opportunity to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of First Nations people, and provide a useful forum for members of the court and the First Nations community to exchange information and ideas on issues of mutual concern, including cultural and language differences. Visits have been made to Balund-a, Dubbo, Gosford, Hunter Valley, Katoomba, Kempsey, La Perouse, Lismore, Nowra, Picton, Redfern, Taree and Forster, Walgett, Wallaga Lake, and Yamba.
